Published: 1 July 2019
Britannia’s branch office in Tokyo has just celebrated 30 years since the granting of its licence by the Japanese Ministry of Finance (now the Financial Services Agency) to carry out P&I and FD&D insurance business in Japan.
In fact, Britannia was the first foreign P&I Club to be granted such a licence in Japan which reflects its continual commitment to the Japanese market.
The Tokyo branch is headed by Mitsuhiko Ida, who has over 30 years of experience in the P&I industry with the office conveniently located next to the Club’s Exclusive Correspondents, Tindall Riley (Britannia) Japan Limited, which has had a continuous presence in Japan since 1953, originally through the exclusive correspondent Cornes P&I & Co Ltd, before being acquired by the Managers on 3 April 2017.
Celebratory receptions were held in Tokyo and Imabari, attended by more than 160 guests and hosted by a number of the senior management team including Nigel Palmer OBE, Chairman of the Britannia Board, his deputy Anthony Firmin, Andrew Cutler, CEO Tindall Riley (Britannia) Ltd and Philip Whittaker, COO Tindall Riley (Britannia) Ltd.
“Providing Members with a quality regional service, staffed by colleagues with local knowledge, is at the very core of corporate strategy and I would like to congratulate my colleagues in the Tokyo branch for providing 30 years of exceptional service,” said Andrew Cutler, CEO of Tindall Riley (Britannia) Ltd.
“Tindall Riley is committed to having dedicated Britannia owned local offices in key territories like Japan, to help enhance our personalised service to Members,” he continued.
