Updated: 7 November 2023
The Britannia Loss Prevention team hosted its latest webinar, Mental Health.
Seafarer’s mental health has become an important issue within the shipping industry. The nature of the job, which involves long periods away from home, high-pressure situations, and the need to adapt to different time zones, can all contribute to mental health challenges among seafarers. The webinar was hosted by Jacob Damgaard, Divisional Director – Loss Prevention, Britannia P&I, and covered a range of topics including a basic understanding on the factors that may influence a seafarer’s mental health and how this can have a significant impact on safety and a seafarer’s overall performance on board. The webinar also examined the potential risks and claims’ experiences, as well as effective measures to improve wellbeing and mental health on board.
Speakers were:
- Dr Katherine Sinclaire, Senior Medical Advisor, International SOS
- Panos Trichonas, Fleet Manager, People Risks Department, Britannia P&I
- Jacob Damgaard, Associate Director, Loss Prevention, Britannia P&I
