REGULATORY OVERVIEW OF FUEL EU MARITIME
1. Regulation (EU) 2023/1805 (FuelEU) forms part of the EU’s Fit for 55 legislative package and regulates the greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity of fuel and other energy used onboard ships. For an in depth overview of FuelEU, we refer to Britannia’s previous article: FuelEU Maritime Regulations | Reduce greenhouse gas emissions In this article, we focus on the regulatory GHG intensity target which came into effect from 1 January 2025 only and other, prospective regulatory targets are not considered.
