SAILORS’ SOCIETY

Founded more than 200 years ago in 1818, Sailors’ Society is a Christian charity dedicated to caring for merchant seafarers. It provides a wide range of services, from chaplaincy and spiritual guidance to welfare support, access to education and financial help for those in desperate need. With more than 100 chaplains and ship visitors, they reach out to 1,000 seafarers every day on board ships or in seafarer centres.

APOSTLESHIP OF THE SEA

The Apostleship of the Sea is a Catholic charity supporting seafarers worldwide, providing practical and pastoral care to all seafarers, regardless of nationality, belief or race.
Their port chaplains and volunteer ship visitors welcome seafarers, offer welfare services and advice, practical help, care and friendship. The Apostleship of the Sea is part of the international network Stella Maris, working in 334 ports with 227 port chaplains in 59 countries.

MISSION TO SEAFARERS

Mission to Seafarers works in 200 ports across 50 countries, caring for seafarers of all ranks, nationalities and beliefs. Their Seafarers’ Centres provide practical support for seafarers together with emotional and sometimes spiritual support. They have a large network of chaplains who come on board ships, giving seafarers a listening ear and prayer, if needed. They can also connect seafarers to other organisations, or speak to these organisations on their behalf if required.

INTERNATIONAL MARITIME RESCUE FEDERATION

Britannia also supports the International Maritime Rescue Federation which is working to develop and improve maritime search and rescue (SAR) capacity around the world. This helps to ensure that timely assistance can be provided to seafarers and others in distress.
