Cyber Security
Increased connectivity has given ships the ability to be online and can allow seafarers to be in closer contact with their family and friends back home. However, this has also made ships more vulnerable to cyber risks, and several cyber-related attacks on ships have been reported in recent years
Cyber risks are an invisible and potentially very complex kind of security threat. These risks are often not fully understood and therefore this makes it hard to take effective prevention measures. There are many simple precautions a seafarer can take to limit the risk of an onboard cyber attack.
Our BSafe cyber security content will be focusing on supporting our Members’ seafarers with advice on best practices and relevant study material for them to better understand the risk and impact of a cyber attack, and which can be combined with the requirements of a Member’s own cyber security policy.
If you have any questions or would like further advice on cyber security then please feel free to contact us at: lossprevention@tindallriley.com
